The pleasure of a simple walk to the beach

The sunshine this weekend seemed to encourage a whole lot of people to go out and enjoy the great outdoors, including us. We knew we wanted to go for  walk along the beach, but which one to choose, they’re all lovely. Picturesque Fife

Another lovely sunny day with very little wind, so we hopped in the car with Snoepie our Jack Russell terrier, and drove eastwards along the coast towards some of Fife’s picturesque places. First stop was the  small fishing village of St Monans,  with the final destination being the Cocoa Tree Cafe in Pittenweem, the next village along, where we sometimes head to on a Sunday morning to enjoy a cup of good coffee and a delicious roll or cake to accompany it, with a read of the Sunday papers thrown in. How to get there

A couple of days ago, it was a beautiful sunny day, with one of those perfect blue skies which I so enjoy after days of cloud. It was an excellent reason to get outside and to do those little garden jobs that had been waiting for just the right day to do them. Kate was here as well. Welcome to the new arrivals

The first nest of house martins have fledged. It’s such a privilege to be able to watch these events at close hand. This year there have only been a few nests up at the bedroom windows; there are several more than usual in the downstairs windows. We enjoy watching the birds building their nests during the late Spring, then there’s the quiet brooding period, and once the chicks are hatched, the long summer days are filled with adult birds continuously feeding their young.
